The new Hospice COPs are expected to be released by the end of May. This workshop will review how the new Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation (COPs) compare to the previous COPs, emphasizing on changes that hospice programs will need to focus on to be compliant within 60 days of the new COP publication date.

Upon completion of this workshop:

1. Participants will be familiar with the newly released Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation.
2. Participants will have a clear understanding of the needed changes for their organization to be in compliance with the new COPs.
3. Participants will be knowledgeable about helpful COP resources for their hospice organizations.

Please make travel arrangements to arrive before 9:00 am and leave after 4:30 pm. Allow time for traffic before and after the workshop. You must attend the workshop in it’s entirety to obtain continuing education units. Partial credits will not be given. No exceptions.

Holly Swiger, Vitas Healthcare
Dr. Holly Swiger, Vice President of Public Affairs for VITAS Healthcare Corporation, works closely with hospice industry legislators and regulators to provide education and support for the promotion of sufficient access and reimbursement for VITAS' hospice services west of the Mississippi River including Texas, Missouri, Kansas and California. Holly has worked a total of 14 years with Vitas and speaks extensively at national and state hospice association conferences, particularly in the area of regulatory affairs.

Suzi Johnson, Sharp Hospice
Suzi Johnson is Registered Nurse with more than 25 years experience in healthcare. She currently serves as the Vice President of Sharp HospiceCare. Suzi's responsibilities include strategic planning, business development, compliance, operational oversight of the hospice, two hospice houses and community outreach. Suzi has been focusing on quality outcomes for hospice, regulatory compliance issues, implementing consistent standard of practice for palliative and hospice, and designing innovative programs and services to better serve the community
