This seminar
has been developed to educate agencies on the new PPS regulations
for Medicare Home Health, and address common questions
and problems agencies are facing since implementation of the PPS
changes.
Items included
in this all-day session are the new case-mix calculation: the four-equation
model, the new therapy threshold, and changes to the OASIS document.
Coding, as well
as, HHRG conversion and new calculation for Non-Routine Supplies
will also be reviewed. Lastly, the review will include dollar calculations
for actual patient episodes, comparing current payments to payments
post January 2008.
At the end of
the workshop, participants will be able to:
1. List the
final Case-Mix and structural changes to the Home Health PPS system
2. Itemize components of the Home Health Resource Group (HHRG) using
four equation model
3. Identify NonRoutine Supplies (NRS) included in consolidated billing
and Calculate new NRS add-on amounts
4. Detail ICD-9 Codes involved in HHRG calculations & point
values in each of the equations
5. Use the New Financial Calculator for the final PPS Changes. Compare
the resulting differences between current method and the final for
HHRG scoring and payment amounts using actual examples.

Melinda Gaboury 
Gaboury is co-founder
and Chief Executive Officer of Healthcare Provider Solutions, Inc.
(HPS). Melinda Gaboury and Mark Cannon founded the company in April
2001 to provide financial, reimbursement, clinical and cost reporting
services to the home health, hospice and rehabilitation therapy
industries. Ms. Gaboury has been a speaker for several state home
care association. She is also a consultant to reporters for the
weekly national home health newsletters.
