The gold standard for California home-based care
Licensed means you’re allowed to operate. Certified means you’re worth choosing.
Home-based care is under more scrutiny than ever. Regulators, payers, referral partners, and families are all asking the same question: can this agency be trusted? Fraud, waste, and abuse by a few bad actors have put every provider under a microscope, including the ones doing everything right.
The CAHSAH Home Care Provider Certification is how you prove you’re one of the good ones. It shows that your home health, hospice, or home care agency meets CAHSAH’s Certification Standards, which go beyond what the state requires for licensure, and it gives you a seal that tells everyone at a glance.

What certified agencies receive
A seal that does the selling for you.
The CAHSAH Certification Logo for your website, marketing, proposals, and vehicles, under the terms of the Logo License Agreement.
A special designated listing as a Home Care Provider Certified agency location on CAHSAH’s website and agency locator, where consumers and referral sources search for care.
The certification standards
Certification is open to California home health, hospice, and home care aide organizations. To be certified, submit documentation showing that you meet all five standards.

Active state license
Your license number for each section in which you provide services: a California Department of Public Health Home Health Agency or Hospice license, or a Department of Social Services, Home Care Services Bureau license.
Proves you’re in good standing with the state.

In-person supervision and annual client visits
Your company policy for in-person supervision of all workers, and a statement that you visit every client to assess quality at least once a year.
Shows someone is checking on care quality, not just scheduling it.

In-person hiring
A statement that your organization interviews every new applicant in person before hiring.
Shows you know exactly who is going into your clients’ homes.

Written grievance policy
A copy of your written grievance policy explaining how a client may file a grievance or complaint.
Shows clients and families have a clear way to be heard.

Workers’ compensation coverage
Your workers’ comp carrier policy covering every worker classification for the services you provide.
Shows your workers, and your clients, are protected.
How to get certified

Download the application
Get the CAHSAH Home Care Provider Certification Application.

Gather your documents
Pull together the license numbers, policies, and statements for all five standards.

Submit by email
Send the completed application and documents to membership@cahsah.org.

Display your seal
Once certified, sign the Logo License Agreement and start using the seal.
