Part 1: Hospice Eligibility & Notice of Election - 1.5 CEUs
The 2026 Hospice Rule brought some changes in reimbursement that includes rate changes and 2027 is sure to follow with multiple changes. New and experienced hospice billers periodically need a review of eligibility requirements and recent reimbursement and election clarifications. This session will examine eligibility verifications, It will walk through the Late Notice of Election and the exceptions process of appeal. A comprehensive review of all eligibility requirements and all things related to the Notice of Election will be included.
· Explain the 2026 Hospice Final Rule reimbursement changes and identify key updates that impact hospice billing and payment.
· Review Medicare hospice eligibility requirements to ensure accurate billing and regulatory compliance.
· Describe the Notice of Election (NOE) requirements, timelines, and documentation necessary for successful submission.
· Apply the Late Notice of Election (LNOE) exception and appeals process to minimize reimbursement loss.
· Identify common billing errors and compliance risks related to hospice elections and eligibility verification.

Part 2: Medicare Hospice Claims Processing & Election Statement - 1.5 CEUs
Recent years have been filled with updates to the Hospice Medicare Billing regulations. Election Statement and Addendum updates are continuing to evolve, and in many cases cause Medical Review issues. Accurate monthly claims and understanding of the navigation surrounding the edits and errors is key to getting paid correctly and timely. This webinar will provide examples of current billing issues and how to troubleshoot those edits. Medical Review will be reviewed and how all aspects of denials that can be tied to billing or Election Statement and Addendums.
· Interpret current Medicare hospice billing regulations and their impact on reimbursement.
· Analyze claim edits and denials to determine appropriate corrective actions.
· Differentiate between billing errors and documentation deficiencies that trigger Medical Review.
· Develop compliant billing workflows that support timely reimbursement and reduce regulatory risk.
· Implement best practices for maintaining compliant billing processes and maximizing reimbursement under current Medicare regulations.

Part 3: Face-to-Face, Physician Billing & HOPE Compliance
Medical Review - 1.5 CEUs
Face-to-Face requirements, physician billing, and the aggregate cap self-reporting requirement are a few among many of the daily reimbursement related challenges. A review of specific physician billing codes and discussion of Attending Physician impact will be conducted. HOPE transmission requirements and the penalty for noncompliance will be covered. One year of HOPE in the rear-view mirror will be reviewed and determining what we can look forward to next.
· Apply Medicare billing requirements to improve reimbursement accuracy and reduce compliance risk.
· Analyze common reimbursement challenges involving Face-to-Face encounters, physician billing, and HOPE reporting.
· Implement processes to strengthen compliance with physician documentation, billing requirements, and HOPE data submission.

Melinda is currently serving as Chair of the NAHC/HHFMA Advisory Board and Work Group, is serves on the Home Care Association of Florida and Tennessee Association for Home Care Board of Directors. Melinda is also the author of the Home Health OASIS Guide to OASIS-E and Home Health Billing Answers, 2023.
