AB 1400 (Soria)

The bill would have established a community college Baccaluareate Degree in Nursing Pilot Program in ten community college districts.  The veto message cited the $60 million Rebuilding Nursing Infrastructure Grant Program and the fact that both community colleges and California State University have been authorized to offer independent programs outside of their traditional roles.  Citing these two facts, the veto message stated “….a pause should be maintained to understand their full impact before additional authorities are granted”.

AB 1418 (Sciavo)

Requires home health agencies, among other health facilities, to report whether their employees are eligible for health care coverage.

AB 1495 (Valencia D)

On October 6, 2025, Governor Newsom signed two bills CAHSAH has been supporting.  AB 1495 (Valencia) allow an online or distance learning program to provide certified home health aides with at least 12 hours of in-service training during each 12 month period of certification.

SB 412 (Limón D)

This bill would require a home care organization to ensure that a home care aide completes, prior to providing home care and annually thereafter, training related to the special care needs of clients with dementia.
