Message From The Chair | February 2026
It is hard to believe we are already into February. I wanted to pass along to everyone that 2026 has already started out with a bang at CAHSAH. The CAHSAH Board of Directors and staff meet at the end of December to start the Strategic Planning process for CAHSAH. We are all working hard to turn all the great plans into reality.
The new CAHSAH staff are getting settled into their roles and hit the ground running regarding educational events, recruitment, policy, advocacy and public affairs. CAHSAH staff are focusing on the needs of all members and all areas, including providers of Medicare, Medi-Cal, Hospice, licensed home care and home care aide services. We would like to hear from all members and encourage members to get involved. CAHSAH has several committees and members are encouraged to join a committee and have your voices heard. CAHSAH is committed to making positive changes in the care we all provide to our clients. CAHSAH will be hosting community events and town halls throughout the state in 2026. And look for expansion of our educational events too.
I do want to take this opportunity, from myself and the CAHSAH Board of Directors, to give a big thank you and shout out to Joe Hafkenschiel. January 31st is Joe’s last official day with CAHSAH. Joe came out of retirement and stepped in last year to serve as CAHSAH’s interim President when the former president left the organization. Joe kept things running and moving forward for the last several months and played a big role in getting the CAHSAH Strategic Planning process started. We cannot even put into words our gratitude for all Joe has done for CAHSAH. Thank you, Joe – we will miss having you around and all your guidance. Joe helped to keep CAHSAH as a strong advocate for us all. And because of Joe, Soua Vang and all the hard-working staff of CAHSAH, great things are coming in 2026 for CAHSAH and all our members. Look for all the updates in the weekly WNUs, the monthly Bulletins and on the CAHSAH website. And I want to encourage everyone to get involved!
