Message from the Chair | September 2025
Labor Day is here – that means Summer is nearly over. We can all look forward to cooler weather and the changing of the seasons. That annual change is on the way. But we also have changes here at CAHSAH. I wanted to give all of our members an update on those changes.
I want to personally thank Joe Hafkenschiel who has stepped in as the interim President of CAHSAH. During this past month he has really rolled up his sleeves and gone to work to do what is needed for the organization. Thank you so much for all your help, Joe. But Joe is filling in only temporarily. CAHSAH has started the process to find a permanent replacement for Joe. We have received several applications for that position. CAHSAH staff and the Board of Directors will be reviewing the applicants. Our goal is to have someone hired by the end of 2025.
Then in August we did get some sad news. Mary Adorno, who has been a fixture with CAHSAH for some time as the Legislative Specialist, has left the organization. Many of you have reached out to Mary in the past to get your policy and legislative questions answered. CAHSAH is in the process to find a replacement for Mary. Until a replacement is found, Joe Hafkenschiel will be helping. CAHSAH also has several committees and members can reach out to those committee chairs to answer questions. I want to thank Mary for her hard work, dedication and expertise. She will be dearly missed.
The Board of Directors will be meeting in October – looking toward the future for CAHSAH. We would like to see new members, new programs and new educational events along with promoting legislative changes to help our industry. Yes, there are changes on the CAHSAH home front. But I want to look at these changes in a positive light. CAHSAH has been a staple for the Home Health, Hospice and Home Care communities for many years. We look forward to continuing and strengthening that tradition and being a strong voice for us all. Change is good, and I look forward to the changing season to bring good things to CAHSAH and our industry.
