SESSION OVERVIEW

Preparation is your best survey defense! Hospices are surveyed every three years and complaint surveys continue to be on the rise. It is imperative that agencies understand the different types of surveys including the focus of organizations that survey. Are you familiar with the different types of surveys and citations your agency could receive, as well as the common risk areas? Come to learn what CMS, CDPH, TJC, CHAP, ACHC are finding in their hospice survey results and how to avoid these issues?

Learn the core elements needed to write and implement a successful plan of correction. Come to this workshop to learn and bring these skills back to your program so that you are prepared for any survey activity that may arise!

Session Topics:
  • Identify the top ten deficiencies cited for Hospice providers during surveys
  • Discuss the changes in the federal and state survey and enforcement process for Hospice providers
FACULTY

Kathy Ahearn, RN, BSN, PHN
CEO and Founder
ALECC, Inc

Kathy Ahearn has dual bachelor’s degrees in nursing and social work. She is currently CEO and founder of ALECC, Inc., which provides consulting, mentoring, and education to all post-acute care providers, with an emphasis in the hospice industry. She began healthcare work due to a disabled parent and later a child living with a chronic disease. Her passion is healthcare, experiencing it both professionally and personally.

Kathy has always been a trailblazer in healthcare. She helped develop pain scales to standardize assessment with the American Pain Society and the Joint Commission. She expanded into medical devices, developing one of the first real-time cloud-based disease-specific software programs to assist patients, clinicians, and managed-care organizations to improve outcomes and collect data for the diabetic population. Currently, she has branched into YouTube to create a channel that will support colleagues and clinicians moving forward in healthcare.

CANCELLATIONS

Cancellations are subject to 20% handling fee. There will be NO REFUNDS issued for cancellations received within 10 business days prior to program. Cancellations must be in writing. Refunds will not be made for no-shows. However, substitutions will be allowed. Should CAHSAH® cancel the program, a full registration fee refund will be issued.

CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS (CEUs)

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (Provider #CEP17394) for five and one half (5.5) contact hours of continuing education. Continuing Education report will be issued to attendees once attendance has been confirmed.
