CAHSAH Listening Tour Connects with Providers Across California
By Soua Vang, President & CEO
CAHSAH recently completed a Listening Tour across California to meet directly with providers and hear about the challenges they are facing. The tour gave home care and hospice providers the chance to meet the new leadership team, learn about CAHSAH’s priorities, and share feedback about what they need most from their association.
The leadership team included Sina Tate, Director of Education; Tanya Bautista, Director of Policy, Advocacy & Public Affairs; Tricia Smith, Director of Membership; and Soua Vang, President & CEO. At each stop, the team introduced themselves and talked about how their work will support providers through advocacy, education, and stronger member engagement.
During the meetings, Soua shared the vision for CAHSAH 3.0, a new chapter for the association focused on rebuilding and strengthening the organization for the future. With new leadership and staff alignment, the goal is to create a more modern, financially stable association that can better support providers in a rapidly changing healthcare environment.
The team highlighted four key focus areas for the association moving forward.
Financial Strength that Protects Your Voice.
A stronger association gives providers a stronger voice in Sacramento. By growing membership, modernizing dues, expanding conference opportunities, and strengthening education programs, CAHSAH can increase its ability to advocate effectively for the industry.
Advocacy that Reflects Your Reality.
Providers’ real experiences must shape the policies that affect their work. CAHSAH is working with committees and members to develop a clear policy agenda that focuses on protecting reimbursement, reducing regulatory burdens, and ensuring access to care.
Education that Reduces Risk and Strengthens Leadership.
Education is a key tool for helping providers navigate an increasingly complex regulatory environment. CAHSAH is expanding certificate programs, offering more on-demand learning opportunities, and strengthening leadership training so organizations can improve compliance, reduce risk, and lead with confidence.
Technology that Makes Access Easier.
CAHSAH is also working to improve how members access information. This includes improving digital tools, developing a centralized knowledge base, and providing clearer communication so providers can quickly find the resources they need.
The Listening Tour brought together providers from across California for open and meaningful conversations about the future of home care. We are grateful to our sponsors -Sutter Health, Around the Clock, HomeCare Professionals, and Aveanna for supporting these events and helping make these discussions possible. Providers and even legislative staff joined the conversations to share their perspectives and ask important questions about the realities of delivering care in the home.
Many of the discussions focused on the growing pressures facing providers today. Increased scrutiny around fraud, waste, and abuse in the hospice sector, the ongoing hospice moratorium, and reimbursement challenges in private duty nursing are creating uncertainty for many organizations. At the same time, emerging regulatory issues affecting LVNs and respiratory services continue to impact how providers operate.
These sessions were designed not only to share updates but, more importantly, to listen. Providers offered valuable feedback about what they need from CAHSAH to help them succeed in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment.
In times like these, it is more important than ever for the industry to stay engaged and work together. CAHSAH remains committed to ensuring that providers have strong representation and support as these challenges continue to evolve.
The Listening Tour reinforced one clear message: when providers come together, share their experiences, and speak with a unified voice, the entire industry becomes stronger. CAHSAH looks forward to continuing these conversations and working alongside providers to support the future of home care in California.
